Australia's federal Labor Party is little more environmentally responsible than the Coalition

At the time of writing this page (October 2020) the Australian federal parliamentary Labor party is as pro-coal as the Liberal/National coalition.

In their favour one would have to say that they are also pro-renewables, in stark contrast to the COALition's determined anti-renewables stance.

Australia's Labor members of federal parliament can't see beyond the financial, and political, power of the nation's fossil fuel industries and can't bring themselves to see that the renewable energy industries have far greater potential and are far more ethically acceptable.

The future of Australia's energy and the world's energy, if our grandchildren are to have a world not greatly damaged by climate change, ocean acidification and rising sea levels, is in renewables. But for some reason federal Labor politicians can't seem to grasp this simple fact.

Old King Coal is dying but both the Coalition and Labor won't let the poor old bugger die in peace.

The only choice for a voter who is serious in wanting a liveable world for their grandchildren it to vote Green or for an independent with ethical standards.

I have written self respect and how it must be deserved; undeserved self respect is more accurately narcissism. Few in the federal Labor parliamentary Labor party could hold self respect deservedly.

The Australian states are generally more progressive

South Australian political parties, both Coalition and Labor, are leading the nation, even leading the world, in doing away with fossil fuels and adopting renewable energy. The state Liberal parliamentary parties are less stick-in-the-mud than the federal party. The state Labor parties, with the possible exception of the Queensland one, are generally more ethical than the federal Labor party.
